The D-Twin workshop presentations are public available

On the 10th of November the D-Twin Baltic workshop followed by a study tour at RecoPark’s two pyrolysis units took place.

We are greatful to Eva Stål, NSR AB, who hosted the event at RecoPark and all the speakers. The presentations are available at https://d-twin.beic.nu/workshop, just click on the title of the presentation you want to view.

The D-Twin Baltic workshop was organised as a hybrid event.

After the workshop, Eva Stål, NSR AB, gave a guided tour to the pilot scale and the commercial scale pyrolysis units.

D-Twin Baltic workshop on the 10th of November

On the 10th of November the D-Twin Baltic workshop takes place as a hybrid event at RecoPark in Helsingborg.

RecoPark is NSR’s competence and development centre, where waste is transformed into valuable resources for the circular economy and at the same time the environmental burden is reduced.

D-Twin Baltic project meeting 16th of October

On the 16th of October, the D-Twin Baltic online consortium meeting took place.

The progress of the seed funding project was discussed.

An application for a prolongation of the project have been submitted to the Swedish Institute to have time to find a new lead partner and be better aligned with other relevant project activities.

The programme for the combined physical and online workshop and study tour at RecoPark/Filborna landfill in Helsingborg, operated by NSR AB, was finalised. The workshop takes place on the 10th of November.

The next meeting will be the workshop on the 10th of November.

The progress of the seed funding project was discussed.
Next on the work plan was the combined physical and online workshop and study tour at Filborna landfill in Helsingborg, operated by NSR AB. It was decided to take place on the 10th of November.

It was also decided to ask the Swedish Institute for a prolongation of the project to find a new lead partner and, time wise, be better aligned with the other relevant project activities.

The next meeting is scheduled to the 16th of October at 10:00 CET.

Visit at Klaipeda University

On the 20th June, Jörgen Held, BEIC visited Dr. Paulius Raplis, Head of laboratory at the Marine Research Institute, Klaipeda University, and introduced him to the D-Twin Baltic seed funding project.

The Volvo Penta engine can be operated in dual fuel mode and the modified engine control unit makes it possible to programme injection timing and amount of injected pilot fuel.

Klaipeda University could be a potential project partner in the application for a regular Interreg project.

Visit at RecoPark

On the 25th April, Hesameddin Fatehi, Marcus Lundgren and Per Tunestål from Lund University and Jörgen Held, coordinator D-Twin Baltic, visited Ludvig Landen, NSR AB and RecoPark in Helsingborg.

At RecoPark, garden waste and recycled wood are used as feedstock to produce biochar through pyrolysis. There are several other interesting facilities at the site, such as a two gas engines (2 x 300 kWel) fed with landfill gas and a boiler fed with pyrolysis gas and/or landfill gas.

A pilot plant pyrolysis reactor is planned to be installed at the site to enable parametric studies and  research and development of the pyrolysis process.

On the 18th of April 2023 the D-Twin Baltic consortium had an online project meeting, while BEIC and NSR AB visited LEI.

D-Twin Baltic project meeting at Lithuanian Energy Institute

On the 17-18 April Ludvig Landen, NSR AB and Jörgen Held, BEIC visited Lithuanian Energy Institute to discuss details of the D-Twin Baltic project and get a guided tour in the LEI laboratories.

The visit was hosted by Andrius Tamosiunas, deputy director, Nerijus Striugas, head of the combustion department and Adolfas Jancauskas, researcher.
