On the 16th of November, Jörgen Held visited Prof. Xu-Song Bai at the Department for Energy Sciences, Lund University.

Xu-Song Bai is a full professor in Fluid Mechanics and has published more than 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals, more than 90 conference contributions and 2 book chapters.
The division is in the forefront when it comes to numerical simulations of energy conversion systems such as internal combustion engines, gas turbines, biomass boilers and gasifiers.
Jörgen Held explained the D-Twin Baltic concept with digital twins as cross-border technology transfer tool. Prof. Bai was positive to join the project consortium and participate in the application for a regular Interreg project.
During the discussion, the possibility to utilise Machine Learning and Artificial Neural Networks, to improve and make the digital twin more efficient, came up. Prof. Bai’s group has recently applied the method to engine optimisation studies.
